OREANDA-NEWS.  Russian oil and gas companies had to postpone the development of deposits in the Arctic due to the lack of offshore drilling rigs.  The lack of technology led to the transfer of Arctic projects to the 2030s.

At the same time, Gazprom and Gazprom Neft decided to explore sites in the Gulf of Ob and on the coast of Yamal. Legally, these projects do not apply to the shelf. According to experts, low oil prices, the absence of offshore drilling platforms and, possibly, tax breaks, are interfering with active exploration.

Rosneft, which has 28 sites on the Arctic shelf, said that the decision to develop projects for the study of shelves will depend on the conditions of the world market, as well as the conditions operating in the economy and technological activities.
