OREANDA-NEWSThe head of the board of the Ukrainian company Naftogaz, Andrey Kobolev, said on Tuesday that he was discussing with US officials additional measures aimed at disrupting the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

"The game is not over yet. Russia will try to create its technical capabilities to complete the construction of the gas pipeline. As we all know, they are not so good at creating efficient and modern ships. However, there is a possibility, and we are currently discussing, including here, in the District of Columbia, how to ensure that this project is dead", said Kobolev, speaking to the Washington Atlantic Council.

At the end of December 2019, US President Donald Trump signed into law on the defense budget, which included a provision on sanctions against Nord Stream 2, including against companies that agreed to participate in this project. Due to the threat of US sanctions, the Swiss company Allseas, laying pipes for the gas pipeline, suspended work. More than 2 thousand 300 km of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline (out of approximately 2 460 km) have already been laid, which is 93%.
