OREANDA-NEWS. The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Energy and Housing and Utilities, Andriy Gerus, said that Russia from November 1 stops supplying coal to Ukrainian thermal power plants.

"From November 1, the Russian Federation stops deliveries of thermal coal to Ukraine. We are talking about grade A (anthracite) and P (lean) coals. Such coal was imported by DTEK (Lugansk TPP, Krivorozhskaya TPP), Donbassenergo (Slavyanskaya TPP) and" Tekhnova "(Darnitskaya CHP, Sumy CHP, Chernigov CHP).

According to market participants, the ban does not apply to coking coal, but only applies to coal used for energy needs," he wrote in his Telegram channel.

He also noted that this can be compared to an energy war.

Decrease in coal reserves used by TPPs was noted on September 1 by 9.7%. At the same time, the volume of gas coal reserves increased by 2.4%. Then it was reported that the coal supply at Burshtynskaya and Zaporizhzhya TPPs would run out in five days, and at Zmievskaya - on October 14.

Energy Minister of Ukraine Herman Galushchenko said at the end of September that Ukraine is lagging behind the planned plans for the accumulation of coal for the heating season and intends to increase its own production and imports. And Prime Minister Denis Shmygal last week assured that Ukraine is fully prepared for the heating season in the context of the energy crisis in Europe and the whole country will be warm in winter.
