OREANDA-NEWS. A group of Ukrainian lobbyists managed to influence the development of US sanctions against the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2. This is stated in an article published in The Wall Street Journal.

According to the edition, Ukrainian officials have been trying for four years to persuade the administration of President Donald Trump and the leaders of Congress to impose sanctions, and now, when new restrictions are planned, they feel on the brink of success.

According to the newspaper, an employee of the Ukrainian company Naftogaz, Vadym Glamazdin, who is in charge of the enterprise’s interaction with the authorities, and Alexander Kharchenko, whom the publication calls an employee of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, were involved in the process. Glamazdin was supported by American lobbyist Daniel Vadich, who worked in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the publication says. The Ukrainians also contacted Republican Senator Ted Cruz and Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen.
