OREANDA-NEWS. The region’s largest natural gas field with reserves estimated at 320 billion cubic meters was found on the Black Sea shelf.

This was reported by President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. According to the politician, the development of this resource will start a new era in the history of the country and radically solve the problem of energy shortages. In addition, in future it will make Turkey an exporter of gas.

“The Almighty has opened for us the door to wealth in the most unusual place. Tomorrow the same doors will open for us in other places. […] We are determined to radically solve the energy problems of our country. We cannot stop and rest until we become a net exporter of energy,” Erdogan said speaking at the Dolmabahce Palace in Istanbul.

According to President, it is planned that by 2023 the supply of gas from the Black Sea shelf to the citizens of Turkey will begin.
