OREANDA-NEWS The Polish energy company PGNiG and the Ukrainian ERU (Energy resources of Ukraine) agreed to supply Ukrtransgaz with more than 200 million cubic meters of natural gas in the period from October 2018 to May 2019. This was reported on Wednesday by the press service of the Polish company.

"The two companies signed an agreement on the supply of more than 200 million cubic meters of gas from October 2018 to May 1, 2019, exclusively for the needs of Ukrtransgaz," the report said.

PGNiG has been supplying gas to Ukrainian consumers since August 2016. Until the end of June 2018, the Polish company exported to Ukraine more than 1.3 billion cubic meters of gas.

"Another contract is the result of very good cooperation, as well as the fact that the conditions offered by PGNiG to the Ukrainian partner are very competitive. In 2016, we create our brand in the Ukrainian energy market", — commented on the agreement, Deputy Chairman of the management Board of PGNiG Maciej, Wozniak.

In 2015, the Polish oil and gas company PGNiG sued Gazprom for allegedly unreasonably high gas prices. In June 2018, the court upheld the claim of the Polish company and confirmed that PGNiG is entitled to a discount on gas supplies. According to representatives of Gazprom, the court confirmed the right to a discount, but did not agree to the requirements of the Polish company to change the price for the supply of natural gas and the price formula proposed by PGNiG.

In March of this year, the Ukrainian concern Naftogaz also signed a contract with the Polish PGNiG for the purchase of gas, then it was about the supply of 60 million cubic meters within one month. It happened in the period of severe cold weather. Then the Polish side assured that it was ready to increase supplies to Ukraine as needed.

In September, the chief commercial Director of Naftogaz Ukraine Yuriy Vitrenko said that Ukraine has accumulated about 16 billion cubic meters of natural gas in underground storage, which is enough for a comfortable passage of the new heating season.
