OREANDA-NEWS. Ukraine has prepared to abandon the transit of Russian gas, for which a program to optimize the country’s gas transportation system is underway. This was stated on April 8 in an interview for Liga.net by the head of the company Gas Transmission System of Ukraine, Sergiy Makogon.

According to the top manager, the country is ready for zero transit. At the same time, Makogon noted that Kiev will not stop trying to counteract the construction of the gas pipeline Nord Stream 2, for which it intends to use the capabilities of “American and European partners.”

Makogon added that after refusing of Russian gas, an alternative for Ukraine is a transit between European countries, as well as possible deliveries of American liquefied gas through Poland.
