OREANDA-NEWS. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba accused Russia of using gas as a weapon. The politician said that Kiev is waiting for Germany's reaction to such a policy of blackmail, RIA Novosti reports.

Kuleba recalled the joint statement of the United States and Germany on Nord Stream 2, according to which Germany will take measures against Russia if the country starts using gas as a weapon - and this is exactly what Gazprom's actions look like, according to the minister. He also said that he hopes for the participation of Naftogaz and the operator of the Ukrainian GTS in the certification process for Nord Stream 2.

In October, Naftogaz Ukrainy and GTS Operator of Ukraine submitted applications to the German energy regulator Bundesnetzagentur to participate in the Nord Stream 2 certification procedure. Ukraine calls not to allow the launch of the gas pipeline until it is completely separated and independent from Gazprom, as required by the EU Gas Directive.

Earlier in October, the head of Naftogaz, Yuriy Vitrenko, said that Ukraine is coordinating its position on Nord Stream 2 with the Polish company PGNiG. The official spoke about the joint fight against the certification of the Russian gas pipeline after filing an application. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, like Dmitry Kuleba, has already called Russia's gas policy blackmail and accused the country of rising gas prices in Europe.
