ABN AMRO has taken another important step in pursuing sustainable international growth with the appointment of Zafar Khan as Head of UK Coverage, Corporate & Institutional Banking effective 24th April. “Zafar will lead the expansion of the bank in the UK serving mid/large corporates with an international profile, working closely together with other UK business lines and product specialists in the Netherlands.” says Robbert Booij, Country Executive UK.

Zafar Khan, a specialist in this field, has over 25 years of experience in banking with a 24 year career at Citigroup both in London and New York. Khan brings a breadth of experience in Corporate Banking Coverage both with regard to his in-depth sector knowledge as well as an excellent understanding of debt and transaction banking products following his experience in fixed income, markets, asset based lending and risk management. In addition, he has a proven track record of successfully growing sector teams within corporate banking.

International Growth

As announced in August 2016, ABN AMRO’s ambition is to grow its international business. This includes the growth of corporate banking activities in Germany, France, Belgium and the UK within its sectors of expertise, including Clearing, Asset-Based Lending, Global Markets, International Desks, and Financial Institutions. In October 2016, ABN AMRO appointed Stefan Meine as Head of Corporate Banking in Germany to lead the bank’s expansion in Germany.
