OREANDA-NEWS. August 18, 2016. Everything is bigger in Texas, especially high school football. And no place embodies the state's Friday Night Lights mythology more at this moment than Aledo, a small town 25 miles west of Fort Worth where the mighty Bearcats have won five state titles in seven years.

Aledo has been so dominant, its coach was once accused of "bullying" after beating an opponent 91-0, despite playing second and third-team players for much of the game. (The charge was quickly dismissed.)

But as the 2016 season approaches, the stakes are higher than ever – not just for Coach Steve Wood or senior quarterback Dillon Davis, whose two brothers both led Aledo to state titles, but also for this town of 3,000 people, where winning has become a way of life.

Video journalists Jared Chistopher and Jessica Koscielniak will chronicle the Bearcats' amazing journey in an original Star-Telegram.com documentary series called TitleTown, TX. Weekly episodes will debut online each Wednesday starting August 17, and they will offer a rare, behind-the-scenes portrait of a team and a town determined to reclaim football glory after a crushing defeat in the 2015 state semifinals.

"This will be a Texas high school football story unlike any we've seen before," said Rick Press, Star-Telegram Managing Editor/Digital. "Jared and Jessica will capture the heart and soul of these players, the coaches and their community. And each week we'll share in their triumphs and struggles."

The original series will also be a first for the Star-Telegram and The Video Lab at McClatchy, as they work together to create a new, engaging brand of digital storytelling.

TitleTown, TX, will be about football. But it will be about so much more.
