Uber partners with Pandora to treat passengers to ad-free music
OREANDA-NEWS. June 28, 2016. Uber is determined to give drivers and riders as much features as possible in its apps. Now, it's expanding capabilities once again, providing drivers with built-in Pandora support. Even better, it'll be completely ad-free to start.
Now, so long as drivers have created an account with the streaming music service (its base offering is free), they can access Pandora through the UberPartner app, the app for Uber drivers. The feature, which is being rolled out this week, brings up a new option when the phone is connected to the car's stereo by Bluetooth or with a 3.5 mm aux cable. Just pick the station you want and let 'er roll.
Even with a free account, Pandora won't have advertisements...for a while, at least. Uber notes that the ad-free experience lasts until December 28, "or while supplies last." After that, drivers will need to shell out for Pandora One to keep commercials at bay. That's \\$4.99 per month, plus taxes where applicable.
This isn't just for the US, either. Australian and New Zealand drivers can also take advantage of this new partnership. Sure, it's not a self-driving car or anything, but it's another reason to consider one service versus another, whether you're a passenger or a driver.
