OREANDA-NEWS. The Thai government will open Bangkok and the tourist zones closest to it for vaccinated foreign tourists without passing quarantine on October 1. The Minister of Tourism of Thailand Pipat Ratchakitprakarn said that the plans to open Bangkok, Chiang Mai, the cities of Hua Hin, Pattaya, Chiang Khan Koh Kuda and Koh Chang, as well as the island of Koh Samet under the scheme of the Phuket «sandbox» for vaccinated foreigners have already been supported by the Prime Minister of the country.

These plans must be approved by the COVID-19 Situation Management Center, but according to the Thai Prime Minister, the opening is planned for early October. After October 15, more than two dozen more regions will be opened for vaccinated foreigners.

Earlier, the Thai authorities began to allow those vaccinated with the Russian vaccine against coronavirus «Sputnik V» to the resort islands of Phuket and Koh Samui without passing quarantine. Tourists will only need to issue an entry permit at the Thai Embassy.
