OREANDA-NEWS PepsiCo has joined the project of voluntary color marking of food products "Svetofor". It is reported on 6 December the Federal service.

The Ministry stressed that the idea of labeling products depending on the level of salt, sugar and fat in them is connected with the fact that in Russia 63% of deaths are associated with diseases developing from malnutrition.

Also, the CPS reminded that among Russian women the prevalence of obesity is 2-2.5 times higher than in men.

"Voluntary marking "Svetofor" allows the consumer to make their diet more balanced, which contributes to improving the quality and life expectancy of the population of our country," the press service said.

As reported IA REGNUM, March 16, according to the results of a poll conducted by the all-Russian center for the study of public opinion (VTSIOM) found that the people of Russia support the idea of introducing product labeling system "traffic Light".

This initiative of Rospotrebnadzor is credible in 82% of the country's citizens, three-quarters of respondents (77%) are potentially ready to focus on such labeling, choosing goods in food stores.

It is also noted that 76% of respondents expressed fears that unscrupulous manufacturers of products will simply falsify the information on the package. However, only 16% agreed that this "separation" measure will encourage manufacturers to reduce the production of products with high sugar, salt and saturated fats.

The first group will include "healthy" products-fruits, vegetables, cereals, fresh and frozen meat, fish, eggs. The second category will include "unhealthy" food — sweet and chocolate, energy bars and drinks, alcohol.

In a separate category are going to allocate products "for proper nutrition" — dried fruits, nuts and other products without sugar.
