OREANDA-NEWS. The Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy of the US House of Representatives published the results of a research, according to which high levels of the presence of heavy metals were found in the baby food of several American manufacturers. This is reported on the official website of the House of Representatives.

The experts concluded, that the content of arsenic, hydrargyrum, plumbum and cadmium exceeds the permissible standards in the products of Gerber, Nurture Inc., Hain Celestial Group and Beech-Nitrogen. According to experts, the content of these metals creates «a serious danger to the health of infants and toddlers».

The subcommittee's report notes, that the administration of former US President Donald Trump ignored an anonymously sent 2019 report on overstated heavy metals in baby food. Experts also said, that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) did not take appropriate regulatory measures to control the concentration of toxic substances in children's products.

The researchers concluded, that the decision to take additional controls on baby food manufacturers depends on the FDA.
