OREANDA-NEWS. The chief freelance psychiatrist-narcologist at the Russian Ministry of Health, Yevgeny Brun, suggested selling alcoholic beverages exclusively at specialized retail outlets away from residential areas.

“All alcohol should be taken to large alcohol stores - not in residential areas, but in a vacant lot or at a more or less distance from housing,” he said.  Such restrictions are possible only in large cities, admitted Brun.  In the villages to withdraw the sale of alcohol away from housing will not work, so in these localities it is necessary to reduce the hours in which allowed to sell alcohol.

Brun noted that in small towns, people often do not drink purchased alcohol, but produced at home, and therefore the consumption of alcoholic beverages per capita can differ significantly from the official.
