OREANDA-NEWS Microsoft's mobile operating system failed to gain widespread popularity due to the fact that the company underestimated its main competitor, Google, and was unable to offer anything new. This was told by one of the former engineer of Nokia who cooperated with Microsoft.

A former employee of Nokia said that he was primarily engaged in the development of the App Social application in the company. The division in which he worked was bought by Microsoft for the development of the Windows Phone mobile operating system. This OS failed to gain widespread popularity, so Microsoft decided to abandon this project.

Among the main reasons for the failure of the Windows Phone operating system, a former employee highlighted the underestimation of Google, which is the developer of the Android mobile operating system. He explained that the operating system itself could not compete with Windows Phone at that time, but Google’s strength was promoting popular applications with its OS, including YouTube, Maps and Gmail.
