Russia Will Resume Flights to Egyptian Resorts
During a telephone conversation between President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, both sides agreed on the full resumption of flights between the airports of the two countries, including the airports of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh.
Flights to Egypt were suspended in November 2015 after a Russian airliner crashed over the Sinai Peninsula, killing 224 people. Regular flights to Cairo were restored in April 2018, but tourist destinations have remained closed to charters.
Local airports were inspected by several delegations of Russian aviation security specialists, the last inspection completed in early February.
