OREANDA-NEWS The Minister of Food and Agriculture of Germany, Cem Ozdemir, said that it is necessary to look for permanent alternatives to the usual grain export from Ukraine and an increase in food prices is expected. It is reported by TASS with reference to Der Tagesspiegel.

According to him, the international community already now needs to think about an alternative due to supply difficulties.

“When it comes to the export of grain by land, we should no longer talk about a temporary alternative,” Ozdemir explained.

Also, the head of the German Ministry of Agriculture explained that while there is a special operation with the participation of the Russian Federation, "Ukraine cannot count on the possibility of safely transporting its grain through the Black Sea."

At the same time, Ozdemir believes that it is worth developing "powerful alternatives to the sea route" for supplies from the territory of Ukraine.

Among the ways to resolve the situation, according to the head of the department, may be the construction of a new broad-gauge railway line between Ukraine and the Baltic ports.
