OREANDA-NEWS Russians began to use sweets less because of rising prices, the Center for Research on the Confectionery Market writes about this. So far, the industry has supported demand in solvent regions and exports.

The consumption of confectionery products in the country for six months decreased by 1.6%. Now per person accounts for about 24 kg of sweets per year. Cakes, pastries and flour confectionery products with short shelf life are significantly losing demand.

The main reason for the decline in the number of sweet tooth experts say the price increase, which is associated with an increase in tax burden. In June, confectionery products rose by almost 5%.
