OREANDA-NEWSTrade between Russia and its key European partners is recovering, while trade with the US is growing faster than in the pre-sanation period. This was announced on Wednesday by State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin at a meeting with the chairman of the Bulgarian National Assembly, Tsvetoy Karaiancheva. 

"The trade turnover is recovering, it's growing at a fairly good pace, with our partners from European countries. By the way, speaking of the growth in trade turnover, it grows better with the US than in the pre-sanction period. What we can't say about Bulgaria", Volodin said. He noted that after the introduction of Western sanctions against the Russian Federation, the country managed to achieve "full import substitution in food, in the military-industrial complex, by 95% in the oil and gas complex". In addition, the Russian markets were reoriented. On the other hand, Volodin noted, the economy of many European countries "has lost a lot".

Earlier, in 2018, the trade turnover between Russia and the EU increased by 21.5% over the year, said Russia's permanent representative to the European Union, Vladimir Chizhov. "Since the beginning of 2018, in the mutual trade of Russia and the European Union countries, a tendency towards dynamic growth has been observed, which has become firmly established this year. Thus, according to our statistics, in the first three quarters of 2018, the trade turnover between Russia and the EU increased by 21.5% compared to the same the period of the previous year", the diplomat said in an interview with the Russian media.

At the same time, according to Chizhov, Russian exports increased by 29%, and imports - by 7.4%. He also noted that trade volumes already exceed 2014 figures.
