OREANDA-NEWS. The first car, which Apple plans to release in a few years, will be fully autonomous, not even providing for a driver. CNBC writes about this, citing sources.

The publication also confirms Korean press reports that Apple is close to a deal with Hyundai and Kia alliance. South Korean companies are ready to provide their automotive technology and manufacturing facilities, and Apple will provide self-driving cars with autonomous movement systems and software.

The day before it was reported that Apple is ready to invest $ 3.6 billion in Kia to implement the project.  Shares of Kia Motos rose 14.5% in trading on Wednesday after local media reported that Apple was planning a major investment in the company. According to Bloomberg, this is an amount of 4 trillion won ($ 3.6 billion).

According to the expert of TF International Securities Ming-Chi Kuo, the "apple" electric car can be built on the Hyundai platform.

According to the analyst, the electric car contains 40-50 times more elements than a smartphone, so Apple will rely heavily on its partner. "We believe Apple will leverage the resources of current automakers to focus on autonomous control hardware and software, semiconductors, battery technology, form factor and interior design, and innovative user experience and integration with Apple's existing ecosystem.

"Apple Car" will be released no earlier than 2025, the expert believes. If the project proves to be successful, for subsequent models, Apple may involve General Motors and the European automaker PSA (owns the brands Peugeot, Citron and Opel).
