IRU welcomes Beijing Declaration on tourism
OREANDA-NEWS. May 25, 2016. IRU welcomes the Beijing Declaration adopted during the world conference on tourism development entitled “Tourism for Peace and Development” last week in Beijing, China.
IRU supports ambitious, cooperative and business-friendly tourism policies, allowing tourism, and in particular group tourism by coach, to prosper and to serve citizens and visitors with safe, sustainable, affordable and high quality services for all.
Tourism is not only an important driver of economic development and jobs, but it also proactively contributes to preserving cultural heritage, and developing community facilities and infrastructure. Coaches, as a cost effective, scalable and sustainable way to develop tourism services, should be an integral part of any tourism strategy.
As an affiliate member of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, IRU is fully committed to advance the contribution of tourism to the achievement of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with the Beijing Declaration forming a key framework for further action.
