OREANDA-NEWS. Presenting at a European Commission (EC) workshop with Member States IRU laid out its ideas on how to prevent and tackle obstacles to the free movement of goods in the EU. The workshop was convened to assess how the EU Regulation (2679/98) governing the free movement of goods could be improved.

IRU recommended creating greater clarity in terms of interpretation of the Regulation by Member States, facilitating the transfer of information to the industry, a compensation mechanism for damages and reducing the deadlines for action by Member States.
