OREANDA-NEWS. According to the latest figures, the loading volume on the rail network owned by Russian Railways amounted to 102 million tons in September 2016, 1.4% less than in September 2015.

Freight turnover in September 2016 increased by 1.2% compared to September 2015 and amounted to 194.7 billion tariff ton-kilometres.

Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs increased by 1.3% and amounted to 248.1 billion ton-kilometres in September 2016.

According to the latest figures, the total loading volume between January-September 2016 amounted to 911.6 million tons, which is 1.3% more during the same period in 2015.

Between January and September 2016, the railways loaded the following categories of freight. The figures in brackets indicate the percentage change compared to January-September 2015.

    coal - 240.5 million tons (+ 2.7%);
    coke - 8.7 million tons (+ 3.5%);
    oil and petroleum products - 174.8 million tons (-7.4%);
    iron and manganese ore - 82.6 million tons (+ 1.5%);
    ferrous metals - 52.8 million tons (-1.9%);
    ferrous metal scrap - 11 million tons (-3.7%);
    chemical and mineral fertilisers - 39.4 million tons (+ 3.2%);
    cement - 21.4 million tons (-5.4%);
    timber - 32.2 million tons (+ 7.6%);
    grain - 13 million tons (+ 4.3%);
    construction materials - 111.1 million tons (+ 14.6%);
    non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock - 16.1 million tons (+ 4.6%);
    chemicals and soda - 18.9 million tons (+ 2.3%);
    industrial raw materials and moulded materials - 25.9 million tons (-0.4%).

Freight turnover since the beginning of 2016 amounted to 1,731.6 billion tariff ton-km, an increase of 1.5% on the same period in 2015, while freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs rose by 1.2% to 2,214.8 billion ton-km.
