OREANDA-NEWS. The Belarusian airline Belavia announced that it is extending the suspension of flights to a number of cities in Europe and Ukraine until December 14 due to bans on the use of airspace and the inability to perform flights, according to the airline's official website. The ban was introduced after the incident with the landing of the Ryanair plane in Minsk.

According to the report, today Belavia operates flights to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Russia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, the UAE, charter flights to Turkey, Egypt and Jordan. The airline apologized for the inconvenience.

Since midnight on May 26, Ukraine has stopped air communication with Belarus, from that moment Ukrainian airlines are prohibited from flying in the Belarusian air space. The Ukrainian authorities made this decision after the incident with the plane, which urgently landed at the Minsk airport after a false message about mining. After landing, Roman Protasevich, the founder of the NEXTA Telegram channel, was arrested.

Earlier, the EU summit also decided to ban Belarusian airlines from flying to the European Union. The EU leaders also recommended their airlines to abandon flights to Minsk. In addition, the heads of the EU member states, against the background of the incident with the Ryanair plane, called for «as soon as possible» to impose additional sanctions against Belarus.
