OREANDA-NEWS. A British Navy warship follows two Russian warships passing through the English Channel. This was reported on Wednesday, February 2, by The Mirror newspaper, citing the British Ministry of Defense.

Earlier in the day, the French Armed Forces spoke about the escort of the courts "Savvy" and "Stoikiy" on Twitter. According to published data, the job of tracking the ships was then transferred to the British frigate Argyll and the American aircraft carrier Roosevelt.

“As a unified response with our allies, the Royal Navy is monitoring the presence of Russian warships that are crossing the English Channel,” the publication quotes the words of a representative of the department.

He also clarified that such actions are a "normal reaction."

The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has previously repeatedly emphasized that all actions of Russian ships in international waters are carried out in accordance with the rules of navigation.

Earlier, on January 29, Russian Ambassador to Dublin Yuri Filatov said that Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had decided to relocate military exercises of the Navy forces outside the exclusive economic zone of Ireland. The diplomat noted that the decision was made in response to requests from the Irish government and appeals from the Association of Southern and Western Fish Producers of Ireland.
