OREANDA-NEWS  Moscow's Domodedovo airport has bought in the Corporation "UralVagonZavod" (UVZ, part of Rostec state Corporation) armored repair and recovery vehicle (BRAM), in particular, to move the aircraft in case of emergency situations. This was reported on Monday in DC.

"Domodedovo was the first Russian airport to acquire combat vehicle," the Corporation said. The representative of UVZ specified that the car is demilitarized - from it the machine gun and other military equipment is removed.

According to UVZ, in accordance with the decision of the Ministry of transport is expected that such machines will be provided to all airports in Russia.

"Cooperation with Domodedovo airport demonstrates that military developments have great potential for civilian use. BRAM-1 has all the necessary technical characteristics for the evacuation and towing of aircraft of any type. I am sure that it will soon appear in other airports in Russia",-quoted the press service of Rostec industrial Director of the state Corporation Sergey Abramov.

BRAM is created on the chassis of the t-72 tank and was adopted in 1975, designed to evacuate stuck and damaged armored vehicles, including from the battlefield. It is equipped with a full-turn jib crane with a maximum load capacity of 12 tons and a cargo platform for placing containers with tools, accessories and spare parts. In addition, the machine is electric welding equipment for cutting and welding of steel. The crew of the tank tractor consists of two specialists of Domodedovo airport service, who have already passed the necessary training.

The Rostec report notes that the purchase of BRAM-1-part of the project on technological re-equipment of the airfield service. The implementation of the project will increase the speed and efficiency of evacuation work when rolling out aircraft beyond the runway or taxiway to the ground or when the chassis is damaged.

"The new special equipment can carry out evacuation works that require the effort of pulling more than 125 tons, and is able to tow a wide-body double-deck aircraft. The tractor is laying evacuation routes on any surface, including through the forest, " said Igor Borisov, Director of Domodedovo airport, whose words are given in the message of Rostec.

Earlier, Vedomosti reported that the Ministry of transport has developed and published a draft order on amendments to the Federal aviation rules, according to which the operators of airfields with passenger traffic of more than 500 thousand people per year should have equipment for the evacuation of aircraft. Only in Russia 38 airports with the relevant requirements of the project traffic.
