OREANDA-NEWS. The American company Ford has introduced new hybrid versions of the S-MAX and Galaxy minivans, which can compete with the hybrid crossovers Toyota C-HR and Kia Niro. Sales of new products started in the UK at a price of £36,535 for the S-MAX and £38,695 for the Galaxy.

Both models use the same hybrid powerplant, consisting of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a compact electric motor and a 1.1 kW/h battery. The total power of the system is 187 horsepower and 200 Nm of torque. The fuel consumption of the hybrid Ford S-MAX is only 5.4 liters per 100 km of travel.

Both cars are presented in the Titanium configuration, which includes 17-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, automatic lighting modes and a tinted rear window. The cars are also equipped with standard security systems, such as a road sign recognition system, lane assist, front and rear parking sensors, and an active speed limit system. Inside, there is fabric upholstery, dual-zone climate control and folding tables for rear-row passengers. There is also a built-in router for connecting to the Internet via 3G, a 10.1-inch digital dashboard and an 8-inch entertainment center.

By placing the batteries below floor level, the hybrid Ford S-MAX retains the same legroom as the standard model. When all 7 passenger seats are fully filled, the volume of the luggage compartment in the minivan is 285 liters. If you add up all the passenger seats, you can get 2,200 liters of space for luggage. The hybrid Ford Galaxy also kept the legroom the same as the pure petrol and diesel versions. The maximum amount of luggage space was 2,339 liters.
