OREANDA-NEWS  The construction of a section of the railway to the port of Sabetta will be engaged in "Gazprom" and Russian Railway Company, also received an offer "NOVATEK". The project is estimated at more than 100 billion rubles.

The northernmost railway in Russia Bovanenkovo-Sabetta (a section of 170 km) is planned to be transferred to the Federal level, the authorities will sign a concession agreement with Gazprom (or its "daughter" "Gazpromtrans") and Russian Railway Company, the project will be insured from the Federal budget.

NOVATEK also received an offer to participate in the project, but the consent from the company has not yet been received.Gazprom refused to provide a comment.

According to the media, the project began to be discussed in August at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov, the initiative came from the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous district (YANAO). In August, the Governor of the region Dmitry Artyukhov really said that the project of the railway to Sabetta is in a high degree of elaboration. At a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, he noted that YANAO has a "productive dialogue" with Gazprom and Russian Railways.

"The question is whether the project will receive Federal money-even if it is not included in the plan of the main infrastructure, it can be added," the newspaper quotes a source close to the Ministry of transport. The consortium of investors may submit an official application to the government in the first half of 2019.

The road is necessary to ensure the delivery of goods to the places of production and movement of goods from the Northern latitudinal passage, along which there are two dozen oil and gas fields, to the Northern sea route. The construction is planned to start in 2019 and be completed by 2022.

The capacity of the new section of the Northern latitudinal passage from Bovanenkovo station to the port of Sabetta is estimated at 8-10 million tons of cargo per year. According to the source, the road will cost 113-115 billion rubles. ​
