OREANDA-NEWSThe Georgian authorities are ready to resume flights with Russia, and there are no technical problems in this direction. This was announced on Wednesday by the special representative of the Georgian Prime Minister for the settlement of relations with the Russian Federation Zurab Abashidze.

"I can only say that this decision to terminate the flights unilaterally was made by the Russian side. If they have such a desire, they will be able to do it themselves. From a technical point of view, the Georgian side has no problems regarding the resumption of flights. Our the position is such that, in general, we welcome the lifting of the ban on air traffic", Abashidze said. Abashidze is located in Prague, where on Thursday he will hold talks with a member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Grigory Karasin.

Earlier on Wednesday, a Russian newspaper, citing a source in the government of the Russian Federation, reported that air links between Russia and Georgia could be restored in the first half of 2020. Until the New Year, it won't be possible to resume due to the political crisis in Georgia.
