OREANDA-NEWS. The South Korean company Hyundai has announced the premiere date of it's first electric car – Hyundai Ioniq 5. Built on a fundamentally new «electric» platform, the cross-hatch will debut on February 2.

The «electric» sub-brand Ioniq will be the serial embodiment of the Hyundai 45 concept, presented in 2019. Keeping it's style, the «five» will acquire the original «pixel» optics, cameras instead of mirrors, a massive hood, that goes behind the wings and unusual 20-inch wheels.

The raised hatchback will be based on the latest architecture of Electric-Global Modular Platform, in the «box» with which there is a basic rear-wheel drive and traction batteries of a new generation, whose power reserve can be replenished for 100 kilometers in just 5 minutes.

The same batteries will be used to power the sockets in the cabin, to which passengers will be able to connect various electrical appliances – from music speakers to a portable oven or a treadmill (as long as their power does not exceed 3.5 kW).

In the future, the Ioniq family will include two more electric cars – the large Ioniq 6 sedan and the Ioniq 7 crossover. The Hyundai will tell about it later.
