OREANDA-NEWS. Sales of cars on alternative power sources in China doubled and amounted to 2.15 million cars - this is evidenced by comparative statistics for three quarters of the year.

The Ministry of Commerce of the PRC clarifies: the share of cars on alternative energy sources in January-September amounted to 11.6% of total sales. In September, there was also an increase in sales volume in annual terms by one and a half times - up to 357 thousand units.

In three quarters, car sales in China grew by 14.8% year-on-year to 19.46 million units.

Thus, the total volume of sales of vehicles on alternative energy sources of BYD, a leading Chinese manufacturer of electric vehicles, in January-September increased by 204.29% and in annual terms and amounted to 337.6 thousand units.

According to the forecast of the China Association of the Automotive Industry, the auto market will continue to grow on the back of increasing demand.

Earlier, Autonews of the Day reported that the Chinese Wiling, which already has a successful Mini EV in its range, has introduced another cheap electric car - the Nano EV. The novelty, equipped with one 32-horsepower electric motor, travels without recharging up to 300 kilometers and costs about 20 thousand yuan, which is equivalent to 225 thousand rubles at the current exchange rate.

It is worth noting that the segment of cars powered by new energy sources is the fastest growing in China.
