OREANDA-NEWS. Iran launched its first military satellite, called Noor, into orbit on Wednesday. This was reported by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (elite parts of the Iranian armed forces).

According to the Mehr agency, the device was launched into orbit at an altitude of 425 km using the Qased launch vehicle. Other details have not yet been given. On February 9, Iran launched a launch vehicle with a satellite of its own production, Zafar, but it did not enter orbit. It was assumed that the object will be elevated to a height of 530 km.

After that, the Minister of Information and Communication Technologies of the country Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi said that in the near future Tehran will try to launch a new satellite Zafar-2.
