OREANDA-NEWS A month ago, Jeff Bezos, the General Director of the Amazon Company, stated that he would become the first billionaire who will fly into space on July 20. Today he said on Instagram that the fourth passenger will be 82-year-old Wally Funk, a Mercury 13 member.

She was the first female flight safety inspector on the National Transportation Safety Board and the first female FAA inspector, besides Wally was member of the Mercury 13.

“In 1961, Wally Funk was best-in-class in the Woman in Space Mercury 13 program. Although the training was completed, the program was canceled and none of the members had no opportunity to fly” - Jeff said.

Wally said that she was praised because she did better and did the job more rapid than any of the guys. She also added that she turned up to NASA several times. She said that she really wished to be an astronaut, but no one wanted to take her. Wally observed that she didn't guess that she finally would do it.
