OREANDA-NEWSRussia hopes to resolve the issue of restoring air links with Georgia in the near future. This was announced on Tuesday by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during a round table with representatives of the Public Diplomacy Fund, which takes place in a video conference format.

"Unfortunately, the air service is still frozen, but I hope that in the near future we will be able to solve this problem", he said. Lavrov noted that Russia is ready to discuss with Georgia the possibility of opening trade missions if such an offer comes from Tbilisi.

“We will be ready to restore diplomatic relations, since we were not the initiators of their breakup. Probably, we need to wait for the Georgian colleagues to approach this issue. Trade missions also suggest some kind of agreement. I don’t think it will add any advantages but, if offered to us, we will definitely consider such a possibility", he said.
