OREANDA-NEWS. Norwegian budget airline «Norwegian Air Shuttle» ended the 2020 fiscal year with a net loss of 2.2 billion euros. This is 15 times more than in 2019 (1.6 billion crowns or 154 million euros). In 2020, Norwegian carried 6.87 million passengers, which is 81% less, than a year earlier. The carrier intends to reduce the number of aircraft at it's disposal from 140 to 53 units in the coming months. The virus in Norway with 5.3 million inhabitants was detected in 70 thousand people, 620 of them died.

«International Airlines Group» (IAG), an international aviation holding company, ended it's fiscal year 2020 with a net loss of 6.92 billion euros. IAG did not provide a profit forecast for 2021, attributing this to uncertainty in light of the prolonged pandemic. A year earlier, the holding showed a net profit of 1.71 billion euros. The management supported the development of international standards for testing for coronavirus and the launch of digital vaccination passports in order to safely resume flights.

The causative agent COVID-19 entered the ships of the US Navy. About a dozen infections have been confirmed on the landing ship USS San Diego, it is in the port of Bahrain, a spokeswoman for the US Navy's Fifth Fleet said. Infection is also suspected in several people on board the missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea. The ship went to the port for tests, but the spokeswoman did not specify a specific location, citing security concerns.
