OREANDA-NEWS. Airlines from Russia continued to operate despite the suspension of airworthiness certificates. Kommersant writes about this, citing sources in the aviation industry.

The decision of the aviation authorities of Bermuda on March 12 to suspend the validity of airworthiness certificates did not lead to the cessation of flights in Russia. They continued, although flights without a certificate are prohibited.

“Starting from 03:00 Moscow time on March 13, all flights of aircraft in the Bermuda registry are actually illegal,” one of the leaders of the carriers said. According to him, on March 14, a meeting will be held at the Federal Air Transport Agency, where they should issue official permission to continue flights on Russian territory.

The only passenger airline to stop flying was charter carrier Royal Flight. Of the 13 aircraft of the company, one is already at the Spanish airport of Castellón. It was returned at the request of the Irish lessor AerCap.

Market participants felt that the disregard for the rules in the current conditions is becoming the new normal, as the aviation industry is on the verge of a shutdown. That is, the rejection of the rules can be considered as a short-term and emergency measure. At the same time, the leaders of the aviation industry must, after transferring the fleet to the domestic register, conduct a full technical audit of each aircraft. And only after that you can issue a certificate of airworthiness.

On March 5, the Ministry of Transport prepared a draft government decree to level the consequences of sanctions for civil aviation for the period until September 2022.
