OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian meteorological spacecraft «Electro-L» simultaneously recorded an increase in the activity of Mount Etna from different angles. This was announced by the head of «Roscosmos» Dmitry Rogozin. «In February 2021, an increase in the activity of Mount Etna (the island of Sicily, Italy) was recorded», he wrote in Telegram.

According to him, due to the high temperature sensitivity of the satellite sensors, it is possible to detect and reliably track the dynamics and energy characteristics of the volcanic eruption process.

In mid-February, Mount Etna in Sicily began to erupt again. This was recorded by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology. The eruption from the crater was accompanied by the release of volcanic ash and lava flow. It is noted, that the mountain is under constant supervision of specialists.
