OREANDA-NEWS. RIA Novosti news agency reported with a reference to the press service of the S7 Space group, the owner of the multinational spacecraft launch service Sea Launch, that the new port of registration of the mobile maritime launch platform would be the village of Slavyanka located south of Vladivostok (Russia).

“After the transfer, the launch platform and the assembly and command ship will be temporarily based at the Slavyansky Shipyard in the port of Slavyanka,” the press service said. Slavyanka is located 80 kilometers from the border with the North Korea. S7 Space also reported that on December 5, the US State Department gave permission to relocate the Sea Launch to Russia.

Earlier, the head of the Russian state corporation Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin said that the platform was planned to relocate from the port of Long Beach (California, USA) to the Russian Far East. The port of Bolshoi Kamen near Vladivostok could become a place of basing. The official did not speak about reasons for the relocation. Roscosmos proposed launching the Soyuz-5 rocket, which is being created now, from it. As before, the launch platform Odyssey will have to go to the equatorial region of the Pacific Ocean to carry out launches.

Before that, it was reported that the Odyssey platform was prepared for relocation: all American and Ukrainian equipment was dismantled. It was said about information and communication equipment of the Boeing company and launch equipment for the Zenit rocket produced in Ukraine.

The Sea Launch was closed down in 2014, when the last, 36th launch was made. The work was stopped due to the deterioration of relations between Russia and Ukraine.
