OREANDA-NEWS. The US government partially lifted restrictions on tanker operations of the Chinese shipping company Cosco Shipping, lifting the sanctions on one of the two blacklisted tanker operators of the group, reports Sea Trade Maritime.

The US Treasury has excluded Cosco Shipping Tanker (Dalian) from the blacklist, which the company was added to last September in connection with allegations of violation of the sanctions regime against Iran. Another Cosco structure - Cosco Shipping Tanker (Dalian) Seaman & Ship Management - remains under restrictions.

According to Reuters, this decision is the result of negotiations that led to the conclusion of a "truce" in the trade war between Beijing and Washington on January 15. At the same time, the department noted that the preservation of sanctions against one of the Cosco Shipping subsidiaries will allow the US presidential administration to continue to exert pressure on China to force it to stop buying Iranian oil.
