OREANDA-NEWS Volkswagen will invest up to 12 billion rubles in the framework of an application for a special investment contract, considering the production of gearboxes, told reporters on the sidelines of the Russian investment forum in Sochi, Russian Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.

"Volkswagen have engines, we are now in dialogue with them about transmissions. We gave our colleagues a list of technologies that are of interest to us in terms of localization in Russia, and they should choose. But before that colleagues have sent us, it is estimated somewhere in the 12 billion rubles for the duration of Spica. There is a dialogue on the choice of units for the model range," Manturov said.

In February, Manturov reported that the SPIC can be concluded with Volkswagen during  next two months.

Volkswagen Group Rus plant is located in Grabtsevo Technopark in Kaluga, 170 km South-West of Moscow. On the territory of the enterprise there is a car production of Volkswagen and Skoda, as well as a plant for the production of gasoline engines 1.6 MPI series EA211. The automobile plant produces Volkswagen Tiguan, Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Rapid models, its maximum production capacity is 225 thousand cars per year.

SPIC is a form of agreement between the state and investors, the purpose of which is to stimulate the localization of production in Russia. Under this contract, the investor undertakes to invest in the creation, modernization or development of production in the territory of the Russian Federation in exchange for the immutability of tax conditions. The mechanism has been operating since 2015.

SPIC 2.0, which is to be launched in 2019, can be concluded only on the terms of introduction of unique technologies and products in Russia. Earlier Manturov said that the state subsidies in the automotive industry from next year will be able to receive only companies that have concluded SPIC.
