OREANDA-NEWS  Today, Estonian Prime Minister Jüri Ratas met with the President of the European Council Donald Tusk. Their talks focused on high-level meetings taking place over the next six months when Estonia holds the presidency of the Council of the EU.

“At last week’s European Council, it could be felt that slowly, but steadily, hope and optimism is on the rise again in Europe. Economic indicators are improving, unemployment is decreasing, European leaders want to stand together,” Prime Minister Ratas said. The European Council also gave a positive impetus for implementing digital proposals," he added.

Ratas and Tusk also discussed the Eastern Partnership summit held in Brussels on 24 November. “Estonia considers it important to help ensure security, peace and stability in the neighbourhood of the EU,” Ratas noted.

The meeting also touched on the EU-Ukraine summit on 12-13 July and the G20 and G7 summits.
