OREANDA-NEWS. On Friday 21 April, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed the situation picture in Finland with regard to international terrorism. The discussion that was based on a report on the situation by the Finnish Security Intelligence Service is highly topical due to the several recent terrorist attacks in Europe. International terrorism is constantly monitored and preventive actions are taken.

The President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy also discussed topical issues relating to Finland’s NATO partnership. Finland continues its active NATO partnership policy and supports closer EU-NATO cooperation. The European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats, established in Helsinki on 11 April, contributes to strengthening this cooperation.

Also on the agenda at the meeting were Finland’s relations with the United States, exchange of visits, and establishing contacts with President Trump’s administration.
