OREANDA-NEWS In the framework of the official visit to the Kingdom of Denmark, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko thanked Denmark for the support of Ukraine in the struggle for independence and territorial integrity in the face of the Russian aggressor.
“Ukraine and Denmark share the same values. Freedom, respect for human dignity, protection of human rights, the rule of law – this is what Ukraine is protecting in the face of the Russian aggressor,” President Petro Poroshenko emphasized in the joint press conference with Prime Minister of Denmark Lars Løkke Rasmussen.
The Head of State noted that Denmark clearly understands that secure Ukraine means secure Europe.
“We highly value and I am personally grateful to Mr. Prime Minister for Danish strong support of sovereignty and territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine, as well as our struggle against the illegal annexation of Crimea by Russia and Russian aggression in the east of my country,” he emphasized.
Petro Poroshenko thanked Danish partners for their commitment to the sanctions policy and their preservation until full implementation of the Minsk agreements. “It is particularly important when Russia takes further steps to disrupt Donbas’ ties with Ukraine and undermine the Minsk agreements by recognition of fake documents of fake states, grabbing Ukrainian property in the occupied territory, establishment of the ruble zone and other ways to officially recognize these territories,” the President emphasized.
The Head of State added that Ukraine is grateful for the additional humanitarian assistance aimed assistance to support 1.8 million of Internally Displaced Persons in Ukraine as the result of Russian aggression. ”This is a very important humanitarian assistance for Ukraine,” he stressed.
Prime Minister of Denmark Lars Løkke Rasmussen condemned the illegal annexation of Crimea and aggression in eastern Ukraine and expressed support for independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine and noted that international pressure on Russia must be continued. He emphasized that Denmark will further support the work of Germany and France on the implementation of the Minsk agreements, namely to force Russia to fulfill them.
“International pressure on Russia must be continued. The EU sanctions must remain until full implementation of the Minsk agreements,” Lars Løkke Rasmussen said. He emphasized: “Ukraine is not alone and it is not forgotten”.
The Prime Minister of Denmark also noted that cooperation in support of the shared values of the two countries is positive for the bilateral relations. “We must support these key values and fight for them, defend them in all countries, all over the world, especially in the neighboring countries,” he noted.
