OREANDA-NEWS President of the Republic, Kersti Kaljulaid, will this week go on a working visit to New York where she will take part in the annual UN General assembly. Apart from numerous bilateral meetings with other heads of state and participation in various discussions, the Head of State will also give a state address at the General Assembly on Wednesday night, Estonian time.

During the week, President Kaljulaid will take part in discussions that focus on sustainable development, environment protection, e-governance and cyber security, and reducing violence against women. In addition, there will be numerous bilateral meetings with other heads of state to discuss mutual co-operation and Estonia's application for non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council. Over the five days, the Estonian President will meet with the leaders of Romania, Moldova, Kosovo, Bangladesh, C?te d'Ivoire, Guatemala, Nepal and other countries. On Sunday afternoon, the Head of State also hosted a reception for the Estonian community in Estonian House, New York.

From Tuesday night to Wednesday morning, Estonian time, the Head of State will also give a state address at the General Assembly.

All the UN member states will be represented at the General Assembly. The General Assembly convenes for a regular session each year from the middle of September until the middle of December.
