OREANDA-NEWS. Prime Minister Pavel Filip participated in the third meeting of EU-Moldova Association Council. The event was focused on achievements recorded by the Moldovan authorities in implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement and the goals for next period.

Moldova has unveiled a progress report on implementation of the Association Agenda for 2014-2016.

Pavel Filip noted that the EU report on implementation of the agreement, besides data on actions and current debts, found that 2016 had been a year of new start in Moldova. At the same time, the Prime Minister assured that the authorities continued to be concerned about implementation of reforms on the country development and creation of decent living conditions for citizens.

«Our purpose is that 2017 be the year when these beginnings in the reforms sector start to give first results visible for citizens. For us, 2016 was a year of stabilization, 2017 is the year of growth and investment, as well as implementation. In this process we will guide of the Association Agenda we will approve in the near future and the National Action Plan for implementation of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. Political association and economic integration of Moldova into the EU is on the rise gradually», Pavel Filip said.

Referring to the priority sectors for the government, Filip said that the authorities had already launched more measures on fight against corruption, investigation of bank fraud, justice reform and creation of conditions for Moldova’s economic development. «We want media pluralism and I use this opportunity to invite international media to invest in Moldova: we are a vibrant society with a potential», the prime minister said.

Also, the premier pointed out that Moldova fully shared the goal actively promoted by EU on increasing resilience to internal and external challenges, as well as on ensuring security in the region.

For his part, European Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn said that the third meeting of the EU-Moldova Association Council had been a good opportunity to reaffirm the commitment on full implementation of the Association Agreement and importance of partnership Moldova-EU.
