OREANDA-NEWS. August 01, 2017. US distillates exports reached a new record in May as volumes shipped to Latin America and Europe climbed.

Total distillate exports reached 1.5mn b/d in May, 15pc higher than the previous month and 22pc higher than the same week last year. Distillate exports were the highest of any month in more than 70 years of US Energy Information Administration (EIA) records.

The US exported 1.3mn b/d of ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD), or 205,000 b/d more than the same month of 2016. Exports of high sulfur diesel — greater than 500ppm — also surged, by almost 100,000 b/d from the previous year, to 147,000 b/d.

ULSD exports to Brazil increased by 155,000 b/d from the previous year, to 252,000 b/d. Exports to Mexico increased by 55,000 b/d to 215,000 b/d
