OREANDA-NEWS. President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Margot Wallstrom.

The parties discussed steps to accelerate the implementation of the arrangements reached during the visit of the Ukrainian President to Sweden on November 14, particularly the implementation of further support of Swedish partners for the process of modernization of Ukraine.

The President underscored the deterioration of the security situation in Donbas and blatant violation of human rights in temporarily occupied Crimea. Petro Poroshenko once again expressed gratefulness to the government of Sweden for the immutable position regarding the necessity of preserving sanctions against Russia until full restoration of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The parties coordinated positions on the eve of the European Council’s session that will take place on December 15-16, particularly on the introduction of the visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens, completion of ratification process of the Association Agreement and continuation of sanctions against Russia. The Foreign Minister of Sweden emphasized that sanctions must be continued.
