OREANDA-NEWS. The Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Shipping Shri. Pon. Radhakrishnan led the Tiranga Yatra in Kanyakumari district in Tamil Nadu from the 16th to 18th of August 2016. On the first day Shri Pon. Radhakrishnan led the yatra in Vilavancode Assembly Constituency in which around 600 people actively participated. The bike rally consisting of 300 motorcycles commenced at 10 AM from Nelveli (NAM Matric School) and covered 46 panchayats/villages before culminating at Melpuram at 6 PM. The Minister addressed a public meeting at Melpuram which was attended by around 2000 people . The total distance covered on the first day was approximately 182 K.M.

On the 17th of August Shri Pon. Radhakrishnan led the yatra in the Kanyakumari Assembly Constituency. The Bike Rally consisting of 125 motorcycles commenced from Erachakulam in the morning and covered 36 panchayats/villages before culminating at Eethamozhi Junction in the evening. A Public Meeting was organised at Eethamozhi which was addressed by Shri.Pon.Radhakrishnan. Around 1,500 people attended the same. The total distance covered was approximately 142 K.M. The Minister also garlanded the statues of freedom fighters V.O. Chidambaram Pillai, Kavimani Desiya Vinayagam Pillai and Kamarajar at Thirupathisaaram, Suchindrum and Thenkamputhur.

Shri. Pon. Radhakrishnan led the yatra on 18th August, 2016 in the Killiyur Assembly constituency .Around 400 party functionaries and general public actively participated in the yatra. The Bike rally consisting of 160 Motorcycles commenced at 10 AM from Kollancodu and covered 57 panchayats/villages before culminating at Karungal at 6 PM . The total distance covered was approximately 136 K.M. PM. Shri.Pon.Radhakrishnan addressed a public meeting at Karungal Junction . Around 750 people attended the same. Shri. Pon. Radhakrishnan also inaugurated a Social Welfare Centre at Palapallam and planted saplings at Sastha Temple, Sunangapaarai. He also addressed around 900 students of Olipaarai Govt. Higher Secondary Schools and highlighted the invaluable contribution of great leaders to the freedom struggle and the need to imbibe patriotic values to remain integrated to ward off divisive forces.
