OREANDA-NEWS. The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and the President of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Duda emphasized that the dialogue between the two countries on historic issues will continue.

“Under any circumstances, this dialogue should not work for the benefit of the third country. Neither the Polish nor the Ukrainians would win if the relations aggravate,” the Head of Ukrainian state emphasized during their joint statement with the leader of Poland for the press.

According to the President of Ukraine, the politicians should say their words as concerns “we forgive and apologize”.

Petro Poroshenko  emphasized that historians should research into the historical issues and find the concept that would suit both countries. “We should have respect to our history and take steps that could only facilitate improvement of the relationship between our countries. The Ukrainian-Polish dialogue should further be based on the formula uniting and bringing our nations to consensus,” the Head of Ukrainian state noted.

President of Ukraine expressed his hope that the consensus would be found in the short term and emphasized again: “Ukrainian party is ready to an open and constructive dialogue on the matters relating to the tragic pages in our joint history.”

In his turn, Andrzej Duda noted that Ukraine and Poland will put joint efforts to make the dialogue about the historical matters more fruitful. “You may expect from us the coordinated steps on this issue. And in December, I think, we will be able to talk about concrete things,” the President of Poland underscored.
